Instrument Technician

Job Description

Location: Dartmouth, Nova Scotia.

Controls & Equipment is looking to fill the position of Automation/Instrumentation Technician/Programmer for our Nova Scotia Construction division located in Dartmouth. Position requires a minimum of three years of experience in Instrumentation or Electrical fields. Qualified candidates must have technical and mechanical aptitude. Position offers a competitive salary and benefits package.

The Automation/Instrumentation Technician/Programmer position duties consist of, but are not limited to:

?? Assist our lead programmer in troubleshooting and commissioning of DDC systems.

?? Main duties will involve the installation of all measuring instruments and digital controllers involved in HVAC systems included in commercial and Hospital buildings.

?? Focus on and improve our existing customer relationships and be an advocate in developing new customer relationships.

  • Superior problem solving and customer relations skills/efforts.
  • Provide Constructive feedback to the engineering department on field experience (site condition training) for best practices for programming & functionality.
  • Communication with customers and/or engineers on construction jobs, assist with the customer training to facilitate the turnover from construction to service.
  • To work in a safe and responsible manner (as per safety manual.)
  • To participate in on-going training/certifications as required.
  • To work overtime hours to meet job demands.

Qualifications:

?? Must have completed a 2- or 3-year technology program.

?? Knowledge of building automation systems.

?? Experience working with DCS, PLC?۪s or Direct Digital Control Systems (DDC). Able to read and work with these types of programming and navigate through graphics.

?? Experience working in the Automation field in any trade or combination of education and experience will be considered.

?? Working knowledge of C&E product line would be an asset. (Training will be provided)

?? Must have intermediate MS Office proficiency.

?? Must have technical aptitude.

?? Must be a problem solver.

?? Must be a people person, able to deal with customer problems or issues with prompt reliable help.

?? Must have excellent time/project management and organizational skills.

?? Some travel may be required throughout the Maritime Provinces.

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $54,000.00-$75,000.00 per year
