Payroll Administrator

Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Calculate and prepare cheques for payroll
  • Prepare statements of earnings for employees, indicating gross and net salaries and deductions such as taxes, union dues, garnishments, and insurance and pension plans
  • Prepare and balance period-end reports and reconcile issued payrolls to bank statements
  • Complete and submit documentation for administration of benefits such as pension plans, leaves, share savings, employment and medical insurance
  • Inform employees about payroll matters and benefit plans
  • Compile statistics and reports
  • Maintain payroll
  • Maintain records of employee attendance, leave, and overtime to calculate pay and benefit entitlements, using manual or computerized systems
  • Prepare T4 statements and other statements
  • Advise employers on human resource and other employment-related issues
  • Plan, develop, implement and evaluate human resources policies and programs
  • Prepare reports and audit findings

Additional Requirements:

Languages: English

Education: College diploma in Human Resources, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field

Experience: Minimum 3 years of Canadian payroll experience. 
Progressive experience in HR disciplines in a multi-location and/or multi-provincial organization

Certification: Certified Human Resource Professional (CHRP) or Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) certification (or working toward completion) is an asset.

Computer and Technology Knowledge: Human resources software: MS Excel, MS Word, MS Windows, Accounting software (Ceridian/Dayforce, UKG)

Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities: Attention to detail, Work under pressure, Fast-paced environment
