Sous Chef

Job Description

SJFX is looking for a passionate chef to be the kitchen's right hand and assist the Executive Chef with all aspects of running a busy kitchen. We are looking for someone who is looking to make their mark on one of the city's most iconic restaurants and put their creative flare on daily dishes.

What you'll do:

  • Working with the Executive Chef with mentoring and leading a kitchen team
  • Ensuring food quality is at the highest standards
  • Maintain full compliance with regulatory health and safety codes in food preparation areas
  • Participate in the maintenance of efficient purchasing, receiving, food storage, and inventory control procedures

Who You Are:

  • 2+ years experience in a similar role
  • Understanding of various cooking methods, ingredients equipment, and procedures
  • General knowledge of various computer software (MS Office Suite)
  • Self-motivated problem solver with proven leadership and communication skills
  • Ability to interact with staff of all types of team members and lead with a positive demeanour
  • Ability to multitask in a high-volume environment while always maintaining a sense of humour and appearing calm
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $17.00-$21.00 per hour

Expected hours: 30 – 40 per week
